How to save money when buying a new computer

by Tony Balthazar

If you have decided that it's time to upgrade your computer there are some things you can do to to save money when you're buying a new computer. Let's look at some of them:

A) Refurbished computers- Before you invest hundreds of dollars into buying a new computer, carefully investigate the possibility of purchasing a refurbished computer. Manufacturer's such as Dell, Hewlett Packard and more often have a supply of refurbished computers at deep discounts over new computers. Make sure you carefully evaluate guarantees and warranty information before purchasing a refurbished computer.

B) Look for Deals - Many computer manufacturers offer deals during the year including when school is about to start in the fall and around Christmas. Consider purchasing your computer when these sales are going on as this will help you save money when buying a new computer. Make sure that your "deal" is really a deal though, as you do not want to find out you are actually paying more for "extras".

C) Packages - When you are searching for a new computer, you may find that you can save money when buying a new computer by looking for special packages that include printers, web-cams or other accessories. These are often a great way to upgrade your home computer and save money.

D) Business Closing - There are hundreds of businesses that fail every year. Many of these companies turn around and sell their computers for pennies on the dollar of their actual value. Watch your local newspaper for special deals on computers from companies who are closing their doors.

E) Computer Shows - Do not overlook the benefits of attending a computer show. You can often customize your computer right on site and you can get a brand new computer at a fraction of what it would cost you to purchase from the manufacturer or from a computer store. These shows also offer great deals on accessories for your new computer.

F) Reduce Options - One way to save money when buying a new computer is to remove options that you simply do not have a need for. Let's face it, if you have a subscription to a great virus software, you don't need to purchase a new license. When you are trying to save money when buying a new computer, these options can add up to hundreds of extra dollars. Watch out for upgrades/downgrades on software that is included with the new computer as well as memory and other options which could ultimately cost you more money. Saving money when buying a computer means you need to pay attention to what you are ordering.

Summary

We all decide to upgrade our computers from time to time. There are hundreds of small ways to save money when buying a new computer. Items such as monitors, speakers, special "service packs" and other things can often be excluded during purchase. Paying attention to what you are getting can help you save money when buying a new computer.
