Memories last forever but why not fluff them up a bit. Adding frill, lace, buttons, stickers, stamps and lots more enhances the wonderful times you had. Scrap booking has been around for a while, and it's a way to get out your creative side, it's also a great way to get the family together and have fun. All you need is a book some paper, and a mind full of ideas.

For beginners an average scrapbook can be found at any craft supplies store. Scrapbooks come in a variety of different colors, shapes and sizes, just remember to get the corresponding size of other supplies (such as paper). Some colorful paper, and scissors is next on the list. Stamps could also be of great use to make elegant or childish backgrounds to fit the photo(s) that you're treasuring. Also cutters are very useful when scrap booking and for other crafts too, they make cutting strait edges a breeze, and they come in many different sizes to fit any piece of paper. If you really want to go all out and have a professionally made scrapbook, pick up some cut outs and some of those 3D stickers and decorations.

Once you bring all of that supplies home its time to start digging through all those boxes full of photos from your past. Pick a background color and a matching color scheme to start off your page. Making cute cutouts to border your photo is a favorite classic design element. You can have a brief description of what happened or just a small caption under the picture. But one tip would be to date all off your pages so you know when it happened. The title in big or bold lettering can go anywhere your want it, it is your scrapbook make it how you want it.

You can make a scrapbook for just one event like a vacation, birthday, anniversary, graduation, or wedding, anything that was/is special to you. They make great presents or going away gifts, like making a wedding book for your daughter, or a graduation gift for your successful son.

But scrapbooks aren't only for old photos; it can be for your keepsakes, and mementos. Like your first love letter, or the lace from your wedding dress, the possibilities are endless. But most of all a scrapbook is for having fun, getting your kids involved with their family history, and showing it off to friends and family.

When you finally finish your scrapbook all the work that you put in to making it perfect really pays off. You'll be able to look back on the times you cherished, and share it with the people that you love.
