Austin with its music, culture, outdoors and hospitality is also home to dazzling array of restaurants. Some restaurants are more than a dining experience; they are an experience in the uniqueness that is Austin. Restaurants from the casual 'kick back lets have a good time' to elegant evenings of fine dining will please anyone in search of an Austin dining experience. Some suggestions for such an experience on some of the finest downtown restaurants are each their own unique brand of dining pleasure.


Shady Grove in Austin isn't just a wonderful restaurant, it's a unique experience only found in Austin. Shady grove reflects Austin's love of the outdoors to the point that on summer nights its possible to sip on drinks and watch old movie classics. The food is classic American foods such as hamburgers, chicken fried steak, meat loaf and onion rings. Chili and other spicy foods are offered because well, it's Texas.


Shady Grove also offers a music venue that has become well known to Austinites called Unplugged at the Grove on Thursday nights that showcases some of Austin's finest musical talent from a wide range of music. Who can visit Austin without a visit to Chuy's? Chuy's is one of Austin's most popular eating establishments. Offering fabulous Tex-Mex cuisine in a decidedly different setting is a great place to enjoy food and a feast for the eyes to take in the dcor. Where else can you get an Elvis Presley Memorial Combo or Elvis Green Chili Fried Chicken, the Tex-Mex twist to his favorite dish. Chuy's offers many wonderful dishes to sample and enjoy along with pitchers of water, cerveza and other drinks to cool the fire of the dishes.


Oh yes, the decor is a blast from the past, Chuy's reminds one of a diner, a malt shop and Texas all tossed together, how about that back end of the pink caddy against the wall? Chuy's has five locations in Austin each with its own unique decor and people waiting to come in and have a great meal. The downtown Chuy's is located at 1728 Barton Springs Road and open from 11 mornings until late night.
