How to prepare for a camping trip

by Sharon Brook

You must draw a neat plan before you undertake a camping trip and follow the simple camping guidelines to make the trip safe and rewarding. These are three salient features of the camping guidelines to be taken with due importance by campers.

Appropriate selection of the tent

Your choice of a tent for the camping tour should be correct one. To determine the size if the tent, you will have to take into account the number of participants and the volume of related camping gears necessary for the tour. If you calculate only the number of heads and finalize the tent size, you will have difficulty in keeping the camping commodities. There should be enough room in the tent with the camping gears stacked inside it. The comfort level of a tent determines the success of a camping trip. Camping guidelines clearly advocate the space for camping gears as an essential part in selecting your tent size for camping.

Tents come in different styles and mechanisms are different for erecting and dismantling of tents. Three types of tents are seen usually and they are Frames, Domes and Cabins. Domes have quite a lot of space inside them and they have simple mechanism both for erecting and dismantling. The sturdiness is appreciable and fresher should take a look in this kind of tents for their first time camping tour. Camping guidelines suggest the above kind of tent for the beginners due to their easy and quick dismantling technique. Cabins have better space but are a little bit difficult to dismantle. It can be selected only when you are planning for a longer stay in your camping trip.

Importance of food

While camping, you will need food to supply adequate energy for meeting expeditions in outdoor work or hitchhiking. You must have an efficient arrangement for food preparation in your tent. Camping guidelines give stress on this aspect of your camping tour. You should have a two burner stove to do all your cooking in a simple manner. Insist on simplicity in cooking and use vegetables and readymade food during the tour to minimize the time in cooking. Maintain intake of healthy and nourishing food to meet energy demand in the tour.

Adequate sleep

Camping guidelines recommend all campers to have adequate sleep during the night. Nights become cooler generally and you need to have enough warm clothes to feel comfortable during the time of sleep. Otherwise, it will destroy the mood of the entire camping flavor. Sleeping bags play an important role in this section. While buying a sleeping bag, ensure that you will feel comfortable in it so that you can sleep without any disturbance. Additional air mattresses may be included in your camping gear to make the bed more comfortable. Camping guidelines suggest inclusion of an inflation device for sleeping bags to give relief to your lungs.
