I don't really believe in collecting things. However, if there were one thing I do tend to collect, it would be Tarot cards. I don't have as many as a lot of people I'm sure, but I have to say that I love them. For some reason, I have never owned a traditional set of Tarot cards. Perhaps I will someday.
I started with the Haindl Tarot because I was drawn to the artwork. This may have not been the best place to start, but it's what I did. These cards are incredibly rich in meaning. So much so that I think they intimidated me and made it hard to learn how to give a proper reading. I do still love them, but don't use them that often because the level of meaning is so complex at times.
From there, I went to some simpler decks of cards. I have some angel cards and some dolphin cards. Those can be fun. They are generally easier to discern and a good place to start. I also have a set of Conversations with God cards, which I enjoy. The book was a turning point in my life, and I generally find a good bit of wisdom when I pull a card.
I recently received the Osho Zen Tarot deck, which I'd had on my Amazon wish list for a long time. It came this Christmas. I had used this deck on line based on the recommendation of a friend and found it very beautiful and meaningful. I absolutely enjoy having the real cards. Although I love doing things on line, having the actual artwork in my hands is fabulous, and I've already done a number of wonderful readings in a little over a month.
Interestingly enough, I sent the Osho cards as a gift to an on line friend who also loves Tarot decks. The next day, my husband and I met a woman who did the artwork for a set of cards and she gifted us a deck. That deck is called Power of Flowers (http://powerofflowers.net/home.htm). I have yet to work with them much, but they are very beautiful and hold a lot of meaning.
Pick a deck that you feel called to and then trust the wisdom that comes through them. Even if a card doesn't make sense to you at first, reexamine your question, be honest with yourself about what your question truly was, and honor the answer given.
