While you are out, potty training should not lose its priority. Potty training is a lengthy process, and you do not want to jeopardize any success by allowing an outing to compromise all of the strides that you have made. No matter where you are planning on going, or for how long, your potty training regimen should remain consistent.
Potty training should be handled in the same fashion whether or not at home or while out, without any exceptions. While the situational climate is vastly different, the ultimate goal remains constant. While out, make sure to be prepared for potty training just as you would while in the confines of home. Keep steady your time frame, and make sure to stick to your action plan for potty training.
It is understandably more difficult to potty train while out, due to the inconsistency of washroom proximity. Prior to going out with your potty training child, figure out your route of travel to best avail the use of a potty. Take your potty with you if your child is attached and having a great deal of success with potty training.
Visiting friends and family, or shopping for groceries, no matter what the case, should not change your potty training schedule. Continue to use the same effective strategies that have been working up until that point. More accidents will potentially occur while out, but that should not stand in your way as an obstacle.
Going out of the safe haven of home is inevitable, and when potty training, it can prove to be stress-inducing. Parents work so hard at potty training their children, figuring that each and every time is of the utmost importance to use the potty. The truth of the matter is that missing a time or two of potty training will not set your child back. As long as you maintain your consistency, and try to accommodate their potty training while out, then you should be just fine.
Potty trainingis a major milestone in the life of a child and of the parent. While you are out, you should still make every reasonable effort to continue your potty training. This is not always feasible, such as during long car rides, or while shopping at the local supermarket. Not every store offers washrooms for the general public's usage, nor do store washrooms have potty seats. A large bowl can be quite daunting to a young child, and the cleanliness is usually questionable when out.
