Thursday Night is the 2009 NBA Draft on ESPN. This draft has the tendancy to be a very interesting because there are so many players who I feel will be good role players. What is so intriguing is that I am certain that Blake Griffin will be number one but what happens after that nobody knows. There has been talk of Spain point guard Ricky Rubio going to the Memphis Grizzlies who has the number 2. There is also another possibly that 7'2 Center Hasheem Thabeet from U Conn will go to Memphis at the number 2. Some people predict shooting guard James Harden to even go number 2. There have been many talk of even combo guard Stephen Curry going to the number 2. I think that Blake Griffin will be a 20 point scorer and 10 rebound type of player which could give the Clippers what they need to add to there young core ( Al Thornton and Eric Gordon). Jeff Teague is a point guard who i really feel is going to shine. Teague's game has been comapred to Kevin Johnson. I think also the fact thathe comes from Wake Forest will be interesting because of the past good players who has come from Wake Forest and done well in the NBA ( Tim Duncan and Chris Paul spring to mind). This draft has a lot of point guard in it ( Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, Jonny Flynn, Jeff Teague, Eric Maynor, Ty Lawson, Darren Collison, Patrick Mills, Curtis Jerells, Nick Calathes, Rodrigue Beaubois, Tyrese Rice who could go on to be great role players for a championship team. The top five players I feel will be in this draft are Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Hasheem Thabeet, Jeff Teague and DeMar DeRozan. I personally cannot to watch Thurs day Night on ESPN and see who is going where. Another player who I feel will make an impact eve tnhough I don't have him in my top five is DeJuan Blair. Blair the 6'6" Power Forward will be an undersized forward who will be a force on the boards. Blair will prove that undersize power forwards can be good rebounder. Teams like the Chicago Bulls or Milwaukee Bucks I feel will benefit from having Blair on there team. I've heard talk that teams that get the pick from 15-25 are going to have the best chance of getting a big impact player as compared to picks 5-14. Tyler Hansbrough will be interesting to especially if he were to go to the New Orleans Hornets because he could come in to give all star power forward David West some rest. BJ Mullens is a play who so many thinks is going to be a bust and I think that depends on what team he goes to. The one player I really feel is going to be a bust is Eric Maynor.
