The do's and don'ts of texting in relationships

Text messaging, the new way of global communication in relationships, deserves the same value of respect as any other form of communication. There are many do's and don'ts of texting within relationships. Here are ten examples, as we begin with the obvious.

Here are the do's and don'ts of texting in relationships:

Be Honest, Not Dishonest - - Sharing your feelings can only make a relationship stronger, for lying can only break trust and possibly a heart. Be honest about the words you use or you may cross the boundaries of a healthy relationship. Do not type what you do not know, simple as that.

Be Calm, Not Stirred - - Being calm while texting is important, whether it's for a date, a friend or a loved one. Being calm helps you from texting anything that you may regret. Those not calm can make another feel uncomfortable, as it may come back to haunt you in the end. Thinking before texting, or even speaking, is a great way to possibly avoid any non-calm words coming from your direction.

Believe in Trust, Not Trust in Disbelief - - Try not to question a text message that could be accurate. False accusations can lead to negativity, even on text messaging. Always remember that words that you text can be taken more ways than one. You have nothing to lose when being honest, than you would have by sharing false belief.

Give Them Space, Not Suffication - - Giving space to a relationship is a must in order for it to grow in a healthy spectrum. The same applies to text messaging, literally. Do not blow up their text message board with message after message, give them space. If you offer space, the other most likely will reciprocate. An equal balance of space, or compatible with, can offer a healthier relationship, even when text messaging.

Catch the Message Before You Miss It - - It is always smart to keep up with the latest text message from someone special. Catch the latest instead of waiting too long. It could mean everything to your relationship, especially when the other person in the relationship would rather have someone assume that you are putting them off or ignoring them.

Have Empathy, Not A Selfish Side - - During times of need, having empathy is healthy. If you text within a relationship, see how the other is doing, especially when times are tough for them. Caring about someone is a genuine act of human kindness and should come naturally for those in a relationship, with or without texting.
