Poetry: Father's Day

Fathers come all shapes and sizes.

Suddenly, one realizes

That Father's Day has come again;

It always does and all the men

Stand waiting for their big surprises,

A barbecue or father's prizes;

It does not matter what the gifts,

As long as they create no rifts

Or better still, they mend a tear

And show that there are those who care;

For fathers, it's a happy time,

Complete with poetry and rhyme.

For grandpas, it's a special day;

More babysitting on the way;

For uncles, it can be the best;

There's always loved ones, who will test.

For brothers, yes, no matter who,

Their sisters recognize them too;

For each new dad, a special grace,

As he first sees his baby's face;

For little boys and little girls,

With freckled faces or some curls,

It's Daddy's day and so some fun;

A celebration has begun!

For those who've lost a father dear

And maybe shed a tiny tear,

A memory, one oft so sweet,

Can make that day, just so complete;

So father's all, with time so short,

Men who another's child support,

A gracious and a happy day,

Remember to have fun and play.

To fathers everywhere, be blessed

And know that love will do the rest.
