Poetry: Friendship

by Charlene Thomas

Created on: June 20, 2009

There were four of us in the dorm

Thick as thieves we weathered the storms

That encompassed college life

Last minutes papers, parties, boyfriends

Thick as thieves until the very end

Until the day we went our own separate ways

Or was it just me who went my own way

Seduced by wanting more out of life

Glitz and glamour

Hmph, yeah right

Now here we are, twenty-some odd years have past

Now looking back, I feel the blast

I see a picture that's gone from four to three

I stand alone because I chose to be me.

Realizing now, that I was not meant to fit in.

I freed myself so that my life could begin

I will always cherish the foursome we had

The laughter, the tears, it wasn't so bad

I guess this is just a corney way to say

I am glad that we all turned out okay.
