Imagine being surrounded by pretty paper and photographs while laughing with friends and family members. You are at a scrapbooking crop party, an event that can take place in your own home, church or community hall where you can improve your scrapbooking skills, learn about scrapbooking trends and complete pages for your scrapbook album.
When I first heard about a scrapbooking crop party from a friend and new
scrapbook consultant, I immediately signed up to host an event in my home. I was looking forward to learning about all the new scrapbooking products that would replace my construction paper and glue sticks.
As a crop party hostess, I had to decide who to invite to the event and when to have it. I sat down with pen and paper to create a list of people that would enjoy learning about a new hobby and people who were already scrapbookers. I invited my relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers. After figuring out who to invite to the party, I chose a time when they would be available and sent out invitations two weeks in advance.
On the day of my scrapbooking crop party, I had snacks and refreshments for my guests and was ready to scrapbook. Each person was told to bring photographs and that my consultant friend would give us some scrapbooking tips. When everyone arrived, we sat down and our lesson began. We learned about basic scrapbooking and were shown several essential scrapbooking products such as albums, stickers, photo trimmers, pens and paper punches. Our consultant then taught us a few techniques to make our scrapbook pages more creative.
We talked about the importance of journaling and how to crop photos. We looked through old scrapbooks and got ideas from my consultant friend's recent scrapbook albums that showcased the new products available. Then it was time for my guests and I to work on our scrapbooking projects.
During the crop, our consultant assisted us with photo placement and shared ideas to improve our scrapbook pages. When we were all finished with our pages, we each had time to share them with each other. After sharing, it was shopping time. We looked through our catalogs and decided what scrapbooking supplies we wanted to purchase.
The best part about being a crop party hostess was receiving free products based on the total event sales. I was able to have a shopping spree in my own house. Some of us were able to receive products right away since our consultant had them in stock and then we had to wait for our order to be shipped to receive the rest.
Having a scrapbooking crop party was a great way to get me back into scrapbooking with better and safer products and turned many of my guests into avid scrapbookers.
