Betting on boxing can get very overwhelming. While there are simple bets on who will win, there are also more difficult bets like which round will the fight end. Your bet should depend on how much you are willing to lose, how much you want to win, and how confident you are in the outcome of the fight.
The first kind of bet is probably the easiest to decide. You can simply bet on who you think will win. The most difficult thing to understand in this type of bet is how much you will win. For example, if John Doe had odds of -200 and his opponent Jack Johnson was +200, that would mean that you would have to bet two dollars on John Doe to win one dollar, because he is the favorite, but if you were to bet one dollar on Jack, and he won, you would win two. With this in mind the underdog is always the best bet if you want the risk to be worth the reward.
Another type of bet you can make is an over/under bet, which is basically what round you believe the fight will end and then is that over or under the amount of rounds the sports booking company you are betting with has chosen.
You can also make a stoppage or KO bet. These bets are exactly what they sound like. If you believe that there will be a stoppage or that one fighter will knock the other out than this is the bet for you. In most fights this has a great risk to reward payout.
A draw bet is an option in most, but not all fights. If you believe that both fighters are equal and the fight will go to the end and then the judges will call it a draw than this would be your bet.
In order to be a successful boxing bettor you will have to take many things into consideration, including judges and the referee. When watching boxing there are many times that you will see what looks like an easy win for one side and a crazy judge has called it the other way, or if there are many close rounds two judges may call it one way while the third sees it differently. The judges are always going to be your wildcard.
Referees can also really mess up a fight. There are some that step in too often and throw off your fighters rhythm while others don't step in often enough and all you will see is a lot of holding and leaning. Of course the most important thing to consider is who is fighting and hope that your fighter takes out his or her opponent quickly so you don't have to worry about judges or refs. Good luck and happy betting.
