Water intake's impact on weight loss

Pharmacy2U - who sell the new diet pill, alli - are stressing the importance of drinking water when trying to lose weight! Read on to find out more...

Most people have no idea of the amount of water that they should actually be drinking, and a large number of people actually live from day to day in a dehydrated state. Simply put: Britain doesn't drink enough water!

If we didn't consumer water, we would be quickly poisoned to death by the toxins and waste products that our body produces that result from metabolism.

Water is incredibly vital to metabolism and digestion, acting as a solvent for our body's various chemical and enzymatic reactions. It carries oxygen, glucose and other nutrients to the cells in the blood, taking away carbon dioxide and waste products. It also regulates the temperature of our body and lubricates our joints (very important if you suffer from arthritis, have chronic skeletal and muscular problems or are active athletically).

We require water to breathe; our body loses around one pint of liquid every day just by breathing out.

By not drinking enough water, lots of people encounter a multitude of problems like poor muscle tone and size, excess body fat, decreased organ function and digestive efficiency, increased body toxicity, muscle and joint soreness (especially following exercise) and retention of water itself.

Proper water intake is one of the keys to proper weight loss. If dieters don't drink enough water, fat cannot be metabolized in the body, fluid is maintained, meaning that the subject's weight remains high and the whole framework that was trying to be set up completely falls apart.

The absolute minimum amount of water that a healthy person should drink is 10 x 250ml glasses a day (a total of 2.5 litres). People who are overweight need to extra 250ml of water for every 1.5 stones that exceeds their ideal weight. For example, a person who is 3 stone overweight would need to drink an absolute minimum of 12 x 250ml glasses of water every day.

Your water consumption should be spread out evenly throughout the day, including the evening.

Don't drink more than 4 glasses in any given hour and consult your General Practitioner before beginning a programme of increasing your water intake.

You may ask, "If I consumer this amount of water, won't I be constantly running to the toilet?" To start with, yes, because your bladder will become hypersensitive to increased fluids. But after approximately one month, your bladder will calm
