The web site known as Twitter is probably not going to replace blogging all around considering that it does not truly offer anything in regards to making complete blogs. When it comes to that, it looks upon as a site that is designed with just mini uses but is nowhere near MySpace or even any of the blogging web sites in general.
That does not mean however that it is impossible to add a future feature with blogs in general. When you think about it, how in the world can it replace the thought of making online journals in the first place? Unless a feature is designed in the future, it would be something that should be disregarded in that sense.
In its early stages, it doesn't look to be something that can replace blogging but it could however become a form that makes the media seem rather useless. Upon further review, it could be the case of just making mini notes and that is simply what it is doing but nothing in the sense of actually becoming a blogging site.
Twitter is an up and coming Social Network site and still has years to go before being declared as something that is going to replace blogs all together. Web sites like Wordpress and BlogSpot are still going to be around and probably will not be thrown to the waste side. Think about it, there is still mail being delivered despite email in existence and doesn't look to be going away completely and probably won't.
Who knows what will happen when it comes to the web site. This should be said that it could become maybe as big as MySpace or Facebook for that matter. That is realistic but those will never be replaced. It will become another option and there will always be that in the first place and something to seriously consider. It will not be replaced because those type of services will be used because there will be a group that just will not use that for a service.
So, to answer the question, right now the answer would be no. Unless Twitter completely transforms with a new version having a feature of a major blog, then quite honestly it is not likely to do so. It is something to think about though no question about it. Twitter isn't exactly a blog web site in the first place so how can it do such a thing in the first place. If it had been, that would get some consideration on that but it really isn't and can be used for promoting purposes.
The ultimate key will be how Twitter actually evolves over time because saying it will replace blogging right now is a bit premature.
