Anti-virus free software is coming for Windows users. MSFT- Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ), is well known for beta releases tanking; yet the Windows community is hopeful as something new is in the works for all Windows users; and it's free. Yes, that's right; Microsoft plans to offer free anti-virus software soon according to Reuters . The free anti-virus software, code named Morro, will offer Windows users an alternative to Windows prior anti-virus software called Live OneCare; and it will be competition for Symantec and McAfee.
Previously, Microsoft offered Live OneCare to its Windows users. The reputation of Windows Live OneCare was bad. It almost always had to be used along with another anti-virus software. This is where Symantec and McAfee come in. They have previously cornered the market on anti-virus and anti-spy ware software. If Microsoft does offer a free anti-virus software that is at the same level of protection; Symatec and McAfee could be in real trouble.
Here are some reasons why. Symatec, SYMC Corporation (NASDAQ), has already shown to be down .25 on June 18, 2009. McAfee MFE - McAfee, INC. (NYSE) however, is up .07 on the NASDAQ today. Based on that information and the trends as of late; Symantec, SYMC Corporation (NASDAQ) is by far at more risk than McAfee. The real question here, is who will win? It's anyone's guess at this point as the market is volatile; but one thing is obvious, Symantec, SYMC Corporation (NASDAQ) is by far at more risk than McAfee. Our prediction is that Microsoft will have to measure up to McAfee to win this game.
Either way, free anti-virus software will be better for all Windows users as Reuters reports that 50 percent of all Windows user have no anti-virus software on their PCs at all. That's really risky business in today's world on-line.
Symatec, SYMC Corporation (NASDAQ) and McAfee MFE - McAfee, INC. (NYSE), originated after Windows anti-virus and anti-spyware software became a big issue in the news. Many Windows users had no idea how exposed their PC's were when they had no anti-virus software. Symatec, SYMC Corporation (NASDAQ) and McAfee MFE - McAfee, INC. (NYSE), came to be what they are today in the market because of SFT- Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ) dropping the ball. This beta version code named Morro, should fix that according to Reuters and other news sources. MSFT- Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ), was reported as being down .18 on the NASDAQ market today on June 18, 2009. So what will the future hold for Morro and Microsoft with this free anti-virus software release? The bigger question is what will happen to the competition? Does Morro offer a free anti-virus software that is at the same level of protection as the competition? If so, Symatec and McAfee could be in real trouble.
The market can only hope that some of us will double our profits this season as the release of Moro is in beta. If investments are properly made; some people could stand to make a lot of good money in the market. PC users also make a profit in the new, free anti-virus software score. Both teams score in this game. Now the market and software community wait as the result is watched. Will Microsoft help us? Only time will tell.
