Long distance relationships have challenges other relationships don't possess. Some people can handle the strain that distance places on a relationship and others cannot cope with the span of miles that exists.

While all relationships have challenges, the distance involved in a long distance relationship does involve some creativity in order to make the relationship work. Fortunately with technology, today's long distance relationship's have many ways to connect which helps ease the yearning and missing of the person you love.

The key to making a long distance relationship last is to focus on the positives and look for ways to reduce the feelings of loneliness that the miles can bring. There are many ways to connect with your loved one and try to close the gap of distance between the two of you.

There are two important elements to consider when trying to find ways to survive a long distance relationship. The first is the emotional factor connected to being involved in a long distance relationship, and the second is the tangible ways you can connect, such as phones and computers, to talk to one another.

If you are involved in a long distance relationship, here are a few tips to help get you over those rough moments and ways to continue to nurture and grow your relationship into a deep, flourishing one:

Emotional Needs

*Trust

Long distance relationships require a strong level of trust in order to survive. Partners who find themselves continuously wondering what their significant other is up to or frantic with worry their loved one may be cheating are going to run into some serious relationship problems.

Since you can't check up on your mate, you're going to have to possess a good amount of trust in order for your relationship to work. If trust is not a part of the relationship's equation, then the relationship is likely to suffer an unhappy fate. Having a mutual sense of faith in one another helps solidify the commitment between the two of you.

*Strong communication

The ability to talk openly and honestly with one another is another important ingredient to having a successful long distance relationship. Keeping the lines of communication strong will secure the bond between you and your loved one.

Any relationship needs strong communication, but in the long distance relationship this is really important because the burden of distance is already integrated as a part of the bond. Distance and poor communication are not a good combination in a long distance
