The different methods the Nazis used to dispose of bodies at concentration camps

When Hitler and his thugs talked about the "Final Solution" to the Jewish question, they never realized what was going to happen nor the extent of it. The machine and mechanism of the Nazis was akin to that of a modern day corporation. And to write about genocide on a massive scale is one thing, it is another thing to carry it out. I was once told by a person of self respect and admiration that everything looks better on paper. And the original idea for the elimination of the Jews was to consolidate them into concentration camps and ghettoes and deprive them of food and clean living conditions. They then would let the natural course of disease and malnutrition carry out the plans for them. Himmler wanted to eliminate a large number of Jews through heavy physical labor. This was the initial idea. But it didn't work. It was not working fast enough.

The first mass killing began in the manner of organizing shooting squads called the Einsatzgruppen. These squads were assembled under the direction of Rheinhard Heydrich. This man was in charge of Heinrich Himmler and perhaps one of the initial largest mass killings (and the largest single mass killing) was that of what was in Kiev at Babi Yar. Babi Yar translates into "Grandma's Ravine." Over thirty-three thousand Jewish civilians were murdered there. Heinrich Himmler himself witnessed an execution there, and it was at this point that it was brought to attention that more efficient methods of disposal had to be found. Himmler was sickened by what he saw and his goal was to make the killing easier for the murderers, not the people being killed. Naturally.

A Nazi left a party one night and parked his car in the garage on a cold night. He fell asleep with the engine running and the carbon monoxide fumes almost killed him. This brought a new revelation in a method for disposing of the Jews. Handicapped and mentally-challenged individuals were already under Hitler's opinion and looked upon as a unnecessary and useless population. Carbon monoxide was first used on these unfortunates. The next official testing was carried out in Block 11 at the Auschwitz main camp on a group of Soviet prisoners.

Experimental gassings were conducted in trucks with the exhaust pipe fitted to go back into the enclosed cargo bay of a truck where, inside, human beings were driven to their deaths. Chelmno, etc.

The death camp Treblinka was, without a doubt, the most murderous place in the Nazi State. And Treblinka utilized carbon monoxide.
