How to find your own personal style

What do you find yourself doing over and over again? Comfort is usually the guide to personal styles, but aside from that, what do you gravitate toward when shopping.  What you think, what you wear when you are alone with yourself, or with your family, will clue you in on your personal style. You need not search for it, it is there waiting to be useful in guiding you. It is not always apparent to you because the world of ideas and people are forever beckoning you to be like them, buy their product, be fashionable, and join the in-crowd.

Therefore, picking and choosing among the world's marketplace and adapting it to your own likes and dislikes is what this article will tell you. Although your style has been with you from birth, you discover it as you grow, develop, and learn. Remember when you had to share a room with siblings? You longed for your own space, a special place all your own? Your life demanded a quiet time spent with reading and reflection and when denied this, you became cranky and quarrelsome. Remember?

This is you. Unfortunately, unless you remain alone without partner and children your life will be lived in the company of others. You must go to school, work and find ways of interacting with the world around you. Imagine if you will all these people with their personal styles, likes, and dislikes. Yes, we live in a world full of individuals. Therefore, it becomes necessary to find a place somewhere in the world where you can, quietly and simply, be yourself. Where else but in your home? And, how else but by furnishing and decorating it for you and your family's comfort?

There is a place of comfort within each of us, it need only be discovered and developed. When we are faced with ideas on how to decorate our homes, how to dress, and how to present our selves to others without actually telling them we are like this, or we are like that, we show them, consciously or unconsciously, a part of who we are. We cannot help ourselves. It is part of our nature.

I will further explain: A quiet demure woman who lives quietly and in harmony with her family and her husband has the most colorful and different style in decorating. Her colors are loud and demands attention and in no way does her style in decorating appear to be her. Yet it is. It is that inner part shining - or shouting - through. Whether or not that style is a fully mature style may not be known for years, if ever. It is her way of saying to the world, look at me, see me, here I am, take
