Working out your abs is not time consuming. Working out consistently like three times a week should be effective. The most important thing you have to realize is your age, effectiveness of your exercises and the effort you put into it. If you feel that your time is limited to how long you want to spend working on your abs then it would be a good idea to increase the intensity of the exercises.
Usually for people who are getting older they tend to have to work harder on staying in shape. A good amount to spend working on your abs is five to fifteen minutes at three times a week. The most effective exercise to get abs would have to be crunches. Doing this with your friends could be fun or you could try eight minute abs which is very effective and has different exercises that are very effective and short.
Changing the intensity of your exercises is mandatory until you reach your goal and possibly later on. The effort you put into your exercises is what you will get out of them. The body will get use to certain activities and it will be fairly easy. A good idea is to switch back and forth with different exercises so that your body does not adapt and it is harder for you to do these exercises.
The best approach to the time spent working out your abs is how much results you want.Typically you shouldn't need to work out much more than five minutes. People have told me that it must have took me a while or a lot of time to get abs but it really doesn't. Abs don't take much dedication but the consistency of your exercises will definitely be the most impact on your abs. Intensity of the exercises with your abs are not the most important thing but it can definitely get you in better shape and make your workout time shorten up.
With this in mind you should reflect that abs don't take that much time and depending on your age a good amount to work out would be one to three times a week. If you are considered old it might it might be mandatory for you to work out more often depending on how well you contain your body shape and how well you eat. A good thing to keep in mind is that your diet can dramatically effect how often you have to work out. Usually you will figure out how often you have to work out with trial and error until the abs of your dreams.
