A little bay horse
Was led up on the stand
He waited for the bids
Shying from the auctioneer's hand.
But none ever came
His eyes were so sad
So I couldn't help but shout,
"10 bucks for the lad!"
The bay looked up at me
And I saw a twinkle in his eye
A glimmer amidst darkness
And I couldn't deny
That I felt there was much greatness to come
From this humble bay colt
Who had appeared so glum.
So I took him home with me
And after a year of pasture, training, and love
I was positive this little horse was sent from those above.
He jumped every fence
And ran every race
All the while
A determined look on his face.
Sometimes he lost, and sometimes he won
But he always went home happy
Satisfied with what he'd done
A slight smile on his face
As if to say,
"No one can ever stop me. I'll try my best in every way."

Running blindly through a field.
