How to crop photos for scrapbooks

We all have them, those photos that were taken from a distance that shows too much background and distracts from the focal point of your picture or a picture that shows someone you don't even know but displays a pretty picture of someone you do. Once we learn how to crop photos for scrapbooks all of these unwanted qualities can be eliminated leaving just the part of your photo that you may want to become your focal point.

Reasons to crop

The reasons for cropping are many such as you want to get rid of unwanted elements in your picture like a background that may not appeal to you. Another reason is you are trying to improve the basic composition of the photo and to be able to fit more photos on a layout you have in mind. And finally you may want to add creativity to your layout to make it unique and all your own.

Restoring

Cropping can restore a picture that was taken on a slant which can be corrected by cropping, it can take away an old boyfriend and leave you standing alone with a pretty background, and it can remove any part of a photo that was taken with a glare on it and improves the overall composition. The options are endless as you add items to your photo to enhance the look.

Cropping

There is a simple way to crop a picture and that is to cut your photo in a straight parallel line to one or more of the edges to remove the part of the picture that you don't want. You can do this with straight scissors, wavy scissors or special trimmers if you want your edges decorative. Cutting your picture in a straight line is okay but you can cut your photos to become a focal point that support the theme you have chosen for your scrapbook.

Creative cropping

You can cut your photos by hand or you can use a template to get a perfect line especially if you want an oval picture or any type of circular look. Heart shapes can also be achieved by freehand or a template, in fact your imagination is the only thing that will limit the shapes you can cut your photo in. You can crop photos with oversized punches which are easy to use and may give you exactly what you were looking for in a shape. Punches are also used to achieve geometric shapes. If you're looking for something to give your corners pizzazz then use a smaller rounder punch.

Summary

If you have a picture of yourself that was taken far away but still has a beautiful background, you can enlarge your photo before you start cropping. It may really surprise you at what you can do by cropping this type of picture. Cropping can be a blessing for pictures that you thought were not very good and hid
