Typical for most of the southeastern part of the United States, San Antonio has a humid subtropical climate. Having a mean temperature of 69 degrees yearly, the city is known to have mild winters and hot, muggy summers. Much of San Antonio's weather patterns is influenced by the Gulf of Mexico, which distributes lots of moisture that allows the city to experience plenty of precipitation all year long. Winter
San Antonio can be a good place for a person looking for a warm winter vacation because temperatures often reach into the upper 60s and lower 70s during the season. Nighttime lows hovering around fourty degrees can also be expected. Arctic air masses from Canada sometimes cool San Antonio into the 40s during the daytime, but there are very few days of temperatures that plummet below the freezing point. Warm winds leaving the Gulf of Mexico and the dry mountain ranges of Mexico help prevent any extreme chilliness invading SanAntonio in the winter season. Winter precipitation almost falls in the form of rain. Snowfall amounts are often recorded as a trace throughout the entire season. San Antonio's winters can still be wet, though. On evenings, temperatures fall back into the 50s and 60s. Precipitation occurences are increasing; May is the wettest spring month. Thunderstorms, some severe with destructive winds, hail, or tornadoes, shadow the San Antonio area throughout spring. (Mean temperatures - March, 63; April, 69; and May, 76. Summer
