level would lead to salt-water intrusion into groundwater in coastal and low-lying areas, affecting drinking water and agriculture. Increased evaporation would reduce the effectiveness of the soil. Extreme weather would mean more water on the hardened ground, which would be unable to absorb it, leading to flash floods instead of replenishment of the soil moisture and the ground water. Extreme weather conditions like drought and perpetual rainfall would cripple nations, bringing them to their knees; sometimes begging for water and sometimes cursing the water.
Infectious disease such as Dengue fever, West Nile Virus and malaria strives in tropical and hot climate, and with global warming, these diseases will yet again resurface and breed in areas otherwise immune to them. Rising temperature would trigger a mass extinction and the entire wipeout of the animals and plants found in the cold places.
Message:
The effects and threats of global warming are numerous and ubiquitous. From the oceans to the lands, from the equator to the poles, from the plants to the animals; the list goes on, however global warming ceases to remain bias and benign. If we yet continue our reckless rampage of the Mother Nature and its resources, then a day sooner would come than we expect when it would be very late.
The effects of global warming is numerous, however the sole cause of global warming is restricted to the emission of CO2. Global warming is not a single person's crusades for universal panacea, each one of us are equally responsible for reducing the Carbon dioxide emission.
Ok! How?
For instance, cut down the demand for electricity, for every kilowatt-hour of electricity saved keeps 1.5 to 2 pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere. Buy fuel-efficient small cars, and if possible travel and drive less. Use public transport and, for short distances walk or ride your bike because it keeps you healthy and the atmosphere less polluted.
"Reduce... Reuse... Recycle." Don't waste, learn to conserve and preserve. Save containers, bags, everything that you may feel could be useful. Use chargeable batteries instead of disposable ones.
Global warming is a threat which is already looming over our heads, yet we remain ever ignorant and complacent, and without a global sense of urgency and unity, the human race would falter in its crusade to tame and conquer global warming. What seems a hypothetical situation today would become a reality tomorrow.
Being a fellow earthling, each one of us needs to be aware and work together to curb and stop the process of global warming, for what we do today would affect and determine the survival of our future generations.
