Going green should be a moral imperative

One word sums up the main reason why we must clean up our mess: OXYGEN

It is imperative that we have it.

Put murder, war, burglary, human exploitation, oppressive governments, illegal immigration, the existence of aliens, the public demand for the price of Angelina Jolie's Oscar awards gown, etc., etc. etc., aside for one moment. None of these atrocities will exist when the atmospheric oxygen levels are too low to sustain life and what's left is riddled with toxic auto exhaust fumes. (And that's looking on the bright side!) On the day when the depletion and pollution of the atmosphere, rainforests and the oceans are no longer a concern we will be thankful that those are the only problems we have.

Going Green is absolutely, unequivocally a moral imperative.

Will it end on December 21, 2012 as seemingly predicted by the Mayans? And if there is a December 22, 2012, perhaps the rainforest won't be depleted until well into the 2020's as suggested by an article in "Science News", on July 14, 2001, Vol. 160, No. 2, page 24. But wait! There's more! Melanie Lowe, in an article of the same title as this, a writer here on Helium, has a scientific friend who even suggested that she forego motherhood! I recommend reading all the articles under this title!

The production of oxygen is necessary to sustain human life on our planet. Key word: PRODUCTION. It is produced during the circle of life. Interestingly enough, the oxygen we breathe comes from two main sources: the plankton in the ocean and the new growth in the forests. As these parts of our eco system are destroyed and polluted, the oxygen levels are diminished as well. But wait! There's more, again! As our oxygen levels go down, the incidence of disease increases. Oxygen is nature's natural curative and detoxifying element. It keeps us from getting sick. Read the book, Flood Your Body with Oxygen by Ed McCabe. It is extremely enlightening.

Eventually, we'll all be too sick (or dead) to continue destroying the earth's atmosphere. Perhaps there will be a few meek individuals that will inherit the earth. I'm thinking they might just be happy living around this quaint little organic farm and restaurant called Hells Backbone Grill in Boulder, Utah. Maybe Havasupai Falls in the bottom of the Grand Canyon will be a good spot to sustain life. Bhutan could be one of the last human outposts. Or not.

I don't really know for sure whether the scientists are correct in their calculations or whether we have a true understanding
