Children loved to be entertained. Unfortunately, with the state of the economy, many of us have had to find ways to "tighten our financial belts". Thankfully, due to state, local, and private programs, providing your children with cheap, and yes, free weekend activities is very doable.
The only hurdle left is how to, or where to, look for information pertaining to cheap and free children's weekend activities. Listed below are several sources that can provide you with such information
* Television.
Many states have local cable channels that daily, and hourly, display a listing of current events going in your local town or city. These stations are great sources of information pertaining to free and cheap children's activities for weekends.
In addition to local current event channels, local television ads are invaluable sources for such information. Advertisements are regularly aired for free or half-priced weekend bowling at your local bowling alley, free weekend movie programs at your local participating cinemas, or free weekend museum tours in your town.
* Newspaper.
In the diversity or accent section of your local newspaper, a listing of past, current, and annual children's weekend activities are regularly displayed. In addition to the events, the times, places, prices, and contact numbers are listed as well.
* Internet.
The Internet is another great source for finding out free and cheap weekend activities for children. Most cities provide local websites that provide free information about local activities for that particular month. Since I live in the city of Savannah, I visit the website www.savannahnow.com to keep abreast of any recent or annual free and cheap weekend activities for children.
In addition to local websites, the Internet also provides websites that cater to parents and grandparents. These websites also offer local and statewide weekend activities for children that are cheap or free (i.e., www.grandparents.com).
* School.
Both public and private schools provide parents with a bevy of little known information regarding free or cheap weekend activities for children. Whether it's provided by word of mouth, or through a printed itinerary, this too is a great source.
* Word of Mouth.
Sometimes, the best information about free and cheap weekend activities for children is through word of mouth. This sort of information usually comes from other parents or social and volunteer groups that offer such services.
* Government Agencies.
Government agencies such as Peach Care for Kids, the W.I.C. program, and other safety-net programs offer much valuable information regarding free and cheap weekend activities for children.
* Pediatrician Offices.Not considered an ordinary place to obtain this sort of information, pediatrician offices provide a bevy of periodicals (both local and state) that list free and cheap weekend activities for children locally and statewide.
There is an abundance of sources available that can provide parents and grandparents alike with weekend activities for children that are both cheap and free. Once you've decided on the source that works best for you, both you and your children can begin to enjoy endless fun filled weekends.
