The sun is shining, the summer breeze is just the right temperature to warm your soul after hibernating through the cold winter months. The outdoors is calling you to come out and participate in all that it has to behold. All you want to do is lock yourself inside your home with the windows and doors tightly shut so that none of the outdoors can possibly intrude into your space.

Why would you want to avoid such splendors? You are like millions of other people on this planet that suffer from summer allergies. I have four people in my household that belong to this club of sufferers.

We have learned in our household to help hold of the big allergy monster, is that prevention is the best medicine. First thing is to keep as clean of a home as possible. We are a family that hates to dust however, with as many people in our house with allergies, it is a necessity. It really does help to cut down on allergies.

If you live in a warmer climate, an air conditioner or a swamp cooler is probably something that you use frequently. Make sure that you replace the pads yearly. When you run any kind of a cooler you have to crack a window for ventilation and better air flow. This of course allows dust and pollens from outdoors to come indoors. That is why dusting is so important.

Some sufferers endure such intolerable symptoms that they have to see a specialist to treat their condition. Such treatments may consist of shots, medication from your physician, over the counter seasonal allergy relief medications, home remedies or a combination of all.

Teas are a great home remedy to try for relief such as Green Tea, Thyme, Black Tea and Peppermint. They are ideal for sinus, congestion and cough. Chamomile is good as an anti-histamine however, is suggested to not be taken if you are allergic to ragweed. Do not forget to add some honey to your teas, because it is known to be great for allergies.

A treatment used in our household that is a large success is a simple salt water and baking soda nasal rinse. It is extremely helpful to clean out the nasal passage and with daily use it has been proven to cut down on the congestion and sinus infections.

Even the foods that you consume can help give you some relief. Ginger is natural antihistamine and a great decongestant. Garlic is another effective decongestant and is useful in stopping a cough. Also, spicy foods have been suggested to help suffers of seasonal allergies. So, spice up your cooking with some Jalapenos to clean out those sinuses.

Each year is different, as we have found in our home of allergy sufferers. Early prevention and a bit of knowledge could allow you embark on the adventure of the summer. The great outdoors!
