Point Guard - John Stockton
Shooting Guard - Michael Jordan
Small Forward - Scottie Pippen
Power Forward - Bill Russell
Center - Wilt Chamberlin
The best offense is a great defense, and MJ and Wilt.
The five men I chose are the best examples of a defensive presence. Just getting up the court would be a labored task many would fail. If you somehow got past the guards, Pippen was always a superb stopper. For the very select few capable of passing the first three would meet a stonewall in the form of Russell and Chamberlin. It is unfortunate that stat keeping wasn't around when Wilt and Bill were in their primes, countless blocks went unregistered, and I bet that either man would own the record for most blocks all-time. Jordan, Pippen, and Stockton, are three of the best thieves in NBA history. I believe Pippen was always underrated as a defensive presence, Stockton was known for being the Mailman's handler, and Jordan for his uncanny athleticism and scoring.
Opponents would not fair well against this real dream team. New records would be had for points scored for a team in a game, both up and down. Wilt and MJ are capable of dropping however many points they so desire. Wilt holds the record for scoring the most points in a single game, scoring 100 points. MJ on the other hand never reached the century mark, but he did score 63 points in an NBA playoff game, which is a record still in place today; and it was against the Boston Celtics, who were amidst their fabled dynasty run in the 1980's. MJ and Wilt are the only two NBA players to ever score over 3,000 in one season. Wilt did more than once, while Mike did only once; this is truly an amazing stat though, how many thousands of professional basketball players have been in and out of the league, and only two men have accomplished this daunting task.
John Stockton, the greatest passer and feeder of all-time would add to his already record stats. Stockton holds the NBA record for assists and steals. Not to mention, he holds the record for most assists in a single season. Having Stockton on the team would not only boost the already incredible defense, but would add to the overwhelming onslaught of an offense. Jordan and Wilt, the two greatest scorers in NBA history would find the ball no matter who was guarding them with John bringing up the ball. Imagine the hardships players would face being caught at half-court with John Stockton and Michael Jordan trapping.
Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlin are the two
