It sounds like a rhythmic symphony, three sneezes, a cough followed by the blowing of the nose then concluding the last of the harmony is the deep sigh as you wipe your eyes with a new Kleenex. This time of year you could purchase Kleenexes by the truck load. Here is comes once more, the orchestra is beginning again. Is there any way to get some relief?
While others are enjoying the smell of blooming new spring flowers, admiring the many green colors of the trees and soaking in the warmth of the changing of the season from drab winter; a person that suffers from seasonal allergies is waiting for the explosion to go off in their system.
Most sufferers endure such intolerable symptoms that they have to see a specialist to treat their condition. Such treatments may consist of shots, medication from their physician, over the counter medications, or a combination of all. Some patients will still have symptoms no matter what treatments they seek which seems like the battle of season allergies is a no win situation. That is why some suffers have turned to home remedies as a way to help control their allergies.
Teas are a great home remedy to try for relief. They are easy to try and a large number of them are now available in your local grocery store. Of course, if you can not find them in your grocery store, look for the ingredients at the health food store or on line. Green tea is most commonly used to aid with seasonal allergies. Thyme tea is ideal for sinus and cough problems. Adding a bit of Peppermint to your tea is refreshing and also helps with congestion. Chamomile is good as an anti-histamine however, is suggested to not be taken if you are allergic to ragweed. Do not forget to add some honey to you teas. The more local the better for you.
While at the health food store you may check out other herbs such as Butterbur, Nettle Leaf and Grape Seed Extract. Most of these herbs will come in a pill form so that they will be more easily taken. You can do your research on line, at the library or some health food stores will have a reference book for their herbs. If you have any concerns, please check with your physician before taking any new medications, even herbal supplements.
Vitamin C was discovered in the 1940's and has been found to be a useful treatment for seasonal allergies. Another treatment that has been around for many years is a simple salt water and baking soda nasal rinse. It is extremely helpful to clean out the nasal passage and with daily use it has been proven to cut down on the congestion and sinus infections.
Even the foods that you consume can help give you some relief. Ginger is a natural antihistamine and a great decongestant. Garlic is another effective decongestant and is also useful in stopping a cough. Also, spicy foods have been suggested to help suffers of seasonal allergies. So, spice up you life and your cooking with some Jalapeos to clean out those sinuses.
The days begin to grow longer as spring passes into summer. Your using less Kleenexes. Something you are taking must be working. You are ready to conquer the outdoors once again! Maybe you will not have to get fitted for that plastic bubble after all.
