Please Wait
Who is this girl before You
Battered, beaten soul
This broken child before You
Heart, black as coal
Why can't she feel Your arms
Or even see Your face
Can't she feel the love You have
And turn from her disgrace
Who is this girl before You
The one within my dreams
Your mercy she is blind to
Her soul in anger screams
Oh God, Dear God please help her
Just let her see You're there
Please let her feel Your loving touch
And know how much You care
Who is this girl before You
Why does she haunt my nights
I wish she would surrender
Take hold of Your delights
Oh God, she is so blind
Surrounded by Your love
But all she sees is darkness
Encapsuled by its glove
Who is this girl before You
Why do You waste Your time
Extending all Your mercy
To her, who is so blind
Oh God, if it were me
I wouldn't be so cold
Extend to me Your love and grace
Embrace me in Your hold
Who is this girl before You
Ungrateful wretched mess
With love like that, I'd be so kind
And full of tenderness
Dear God, why keep waiting
Your love she will not see...
Oh wait! Please wait! God, do wait!
At last I know... she's me.

That tingling sensation
In the moment of utter fear

I've mystified my ego for years plenty
Too easily accepting the simplest of answers
Never begging, never questioning
Am I right?
