Frazer opened the flat's door to a skirmish happening on the landing, and found Bloater Mackenzie and Shacks Teirnan bent over in some kind of rugby scrum.
"Hi guys" Frazer offered, leaning against the doorpost, trying to figure out whose head was whose in the shadows "nice of you to grace our wee gathering"
"Not at all, not at all, big man" came the strangled Irish lilt of Shacks from beneath Bloater's armpit "very happy to be here"
"Wearing Lynx, is he?" asked Frazer, raising an eyebrow
"Oh yes, 'Africa' if I'm not very much mistaken" answered Shacks, cheerfully jabbing his adversary in the ribs so as to move to a more comfortable position "he's such a lovable brute of a man, ain't you just Bloater matey?"
"Stunnin' and dontcha forget it ya big tart face" replied Bloater, straightening up and wheezing a little "need to put a little weight on you, though, Shacksy mate, I'm always afraid I'll hurt you"
"Tougher than me mother's old boots, I assure you boy, tough as old leather am I. Could've killed you had young Raza not opened the flat door here, it was surely a lucky escape for you"
"Looks like he's about to have a heart attack as it is, better get him a beer to calm him down" Frazer interjected wryly, letting them into the narrow hallway "but none of that shenanigans inside or Cara will kill me"
His friends made a whipping sound and laughed at their synchronicity. "I'm not into that S & M carry on if you must know" Frazer frowned
"Ah, but sounds as if your lady might be, Raza" winked Shacks before he was brutally shoved into the living room.
"Now watch it, Raza, Cara'll be upset" guffawed Bloater as he wandered over to the buffet "yum, I'm half starved"
"You don't look it" stated Steven, who was lounging on the couch enacting a drums solo in time with his favourite Metallica hit. "I'd reckon you had dinner before you left Kirkfeldy"
"Yeah, but that was ages ago, I'm fading away..."
"...to a mountainside" finished Martin for him, smiling "how are you James? And Shacks? Good to see you both" he sashayed over to the newcomers and hugged them with relish.
"We're good yeah, when he's not slagging off me new girlfriend, that is. He reeks of jealousy, so he does" replied Shacks, punching Bloater's arm.
"Is that why he's wearing so much Lynx then?" Frazer murmured to an amused Steven.
"Jealous of that bimbo? I think not, you Irish prat!" Bloater rejoined, returning a harder cuff to his friend.
"She is NOT a bimbo Bloats..."
"Is"
"Is not!"
