Recently I have been hearing Bipolar Disorder being characterized as a behavioral disorder. This has been something I have thought about the disease for a couple of years now. In my past I have diagnosed as bipolar and I can say with all honesty that it was a personal decision to believe that I was. It is apparent to me now that moment was the start of my self realization amidst low self esteem. My argument for bipolar being an excuse is its own argument that it is a behavioural disorder. Can criminals control their own behaviour and do they deserve to go to jail? I believe that if a person can talk and eat and open a door with their hands they can control their behaviour. Some people just have to grow up and control how they react to what goes through their mind. What about people who hallucinate, etc? To me, those are people who have a severe lack of love in their life and have been submitted by satan.
I have a friend who is one the fence of believing he is bipolar. He is pretty much using the system for benefits to live off. I have seen him go through believing he is free from mental illness and starting to feel good and then sitting there asking if I am the FBI. When he asks if I am the FBI, he seems to be asking me out of obeying what is going through his head. To me when he is believing that he bipolar he behaves very immaturally. When he is talking about being ill he is quick to anger and indirectly threatens people, but when he talks about Christ, he is fine.
There also is the issue of epigenetics. Epigenetics is a new science that is proving that one's behaviour and health directly influences his/her genetic signatures. These signatures then get passed down to the individuals kin. What this makes apparent to me is that over generations family lines may become infected with negative behavior. If someone's mind is prewired toward certain personality traits they may have more of a challenge becoming a good man or woman. This further proves that if one behaves well one is well. You just have to flip wanting to react to thoughts to wanting to behave properly. After a consistent period of following this edict a person will be able to submit their mind. Then they will be able to use it to work for them instead of against them.
To me there is no better way to refine proper behaviour than following Jesus Christ. People expect following Jesus to be a comfortable easy ride I think, but when sincerely done it is a challenging path. This further makes sense
