"Cherry blossom"

I discover it as I ascend the hill a cherry tree
I sit beneath it and the precious pink petals shower me
As the wind decides to drop by and pay us a call

I am surrounded by all things lovely and pure
I breathe, smell, feel, and taste the scent permeating the air
The perfume of the cherry blossom.

It is a light, subtle, clean aroma
that reveals a hint of its beauty
Through its fragrance

A petal lands in my palm
A sample of rich, soft velvet caught between my fingers

Peace hovers around the tree like a hummingbird over a flower
So still and soothing is the mood it's hard to believe
That life is going on and events are taking place
That history is forming in other locations

I wonder at the anatomy of such beauty
How a tree can supply a place for refuge
A place where all time stops and nothing can disturb you

I give up wondering and blend with the tree
I am the petal falling from the cherry tree.
Delicately I weave my way through the branches.
Only the wind knows where I will land.
