SCIENCE, NATURE AND HARMONY

Indeed, studying science makes so many things about the universe and God much clearer. I myself am fascinated with the phenomena that occur in the natural sciences. Just having passed junior high as a pure science student and taken my Ordinary level exams, there were many of these intriguing happenings that I came across during my long hours of study. Most interestingly, one of these phenomena was studied in all natural sciences, may it be Biology, Physics or Chemistry. However, it manifested itself in different forms in the respective subjects. This queer yet eye-opening reality is the fact that nature has a mechanism which sustains harmony and automatically nullifies any deviation from the norm.

In order to explain this, I shall take examples from each of the sciences and describe how the universe and its essence have been maintained in definite order.

Considering the supreme discipline of Physics, I shall explain the phenomenon through a law developed by Russian physicist Heinrich Lenz in 1834 on the principles of electromagnetic induction. Electromagnetic induction is the induction of voltage and current in a conductor by means of a magnetic field. The law states:

"An induced current is always in such a direction as to oppose the motion or change causing it"

This law is in fact an extension of the Law of Conservation of energy which states, Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but it can be changed into other forms, hence, the total energy of a body remains constant.

Having stated simply these two laws, one can argue that the Lenz's law must be correct because if the current and electromagnetic force induced in a conductor are in the same direction as the magnetic field producing it, there will be another magnetic field produced and the combination of these two magnetic fields will give a net magnetic field which will eventually induce a larger current. This is a violation of the law of conservation of energy as a further voltage is being made.

To test this law, a magnet and a metal coil are used. If the North Pole of a magnet is brought towards one end of the coil, the end of the coil will itself produce a North Pole in order to repel the magnet. However, if the North Pole is being pulled away from the coil, that end of the coil will produce a South Pole in order to attract the magnet. Hence, it is seen that the consequences of any action are opposite. If the above was too much to grasp, then just read Newton's
