Where college students like to do homework and what this reveals about their personalities

Homework is something that is an unavoidable reality to millions of students attending colleges and universities all over the world. Homework helps cement newly-learned facts into a student brain, thus, enabling college attendees to apply newly acquired knowledge in a variety of hypothetical situations that will, hopefully, translate into real world applications. Homework can be dreaded, avoided, ignored and postponed; it can be argued to be useless and time-consuming. The reality is, however, that most college educators still think that extra work outside of class can be helpful to a student and keep him or her on track.

Amidst all the partying, procrastinating, socializing, a lot of students do realize the importance of doing their homework and make time to do the homework assigned by their professors. Not all students are comfortable studying in the same exact environment - most share dramatically different study habits. The study patterns and preferences can vary from person to person - what may work for some students can be distracting and useless for others. It all depends on a student's personality and character. Finding an effective studying environment can make all the difference between failure and success and, thus, it is imperative for a college student to figure out what study techniques and locations make them most productive.

Some students prefer the traditional go-to location that everyone thinks of when a stereotype of a studious college student is brought up in a conversation. Libraries are the vessels of information, making a multitude of sources of information available to student's fingertips. They also offer numerous study rooms, areas and niches, where a student can get away from the world and all of its distractions and get lost for a couple of hours with a psychology or a history book. A library is a good destination to go to when a student is self-motivated and can keep himself or herself studying without any external motivation. If a student needs to escape from the temptations, often coming in a form of phone calls and text messages from partying friends, a library is a good location to get disconnected from the outside distractions. With all the benefits of privacy and information availability, jocks and nerds alike can find a library a soothing environment in which to let their learning occur.
