The Orchard
Embarrassed cherries blushing burgundy
Silhouetted by the rising sun
Completely exposed, uneasy with anticipation
Haphazardly disconnected through anxious pulls
Clustering together in the cardboard carton
Feet trekking tirelessly through the morning dew
Day breaks on the local farm
The soothing hum of an idling diesel engine
intermingling with the sounds of nature
Mourning Doves cooing in the distance
The ambient chatter of patrons
Gathering berries
Gorging on cherries
Just a few
One
Two
Young faces suffused with color

Where the mountains reach the heavens high above,
And lush green
