Do you think that cows can fly? How about cats? O.K., then do you think people can fly? Depends on how you look at it. Actually, all of the above can fly, if they are travelling on an airplane, or on any other fabricated flying contraption. However, if you ask, can people or certain animals fly by themselves? The answer of course will be no! Sure, they could glide for a while if you dropped them from an airplane, but if they are not wearing a parachute or something to cushion the fall....splat! We are simply not made for flying. A bird can fly by himself, with no help from anyone, but if we were to compare the bird to an airline pilot, we could not say that the pilot does the same as the bird. What they both do is similar, but cannot be considered the same.
The same thing goes for Christians. You could say that all Christians value life, but if we take a deeper look inside the abortion debate, we start to see many differences. Pope John Paul II coined the phrase "Culture of Life," in which he describes that life must be protected from conception to natural death. Now, it would seem normal that all Christians taking after the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself would want to protect life from conception to natural death, but there are many Christians out there who belong to what John Paul II also coined as the "Culture of Death." These people were born into Catholic families, were baptized, made their first holy communion, were confirmed, got married, etc. These people have lived their lives as their parents brought them up to, and they believe that Jesus Christ is our savior. They go to church on Sundays, and contribute to their communities in any way they can. The only difference (and it is a very big one), is that they place a value on life very differently from what Christ himself taught us.
Christians who support abortion and abortion "rights" do not place a value on life from its conception to natural death, rather they set a time limit on when life exists and does not exist. They seem to think that life begins a few weeks to a few months after conception, as if to say, "Life begins on the eight week after conception, but not before." There are many scientists out there that will say beyond any doubt that life begins at conception, and they give their findings, while there are others who will try to say that a "fetus" is not a human being until after a few days or weeks. The interesting thing is that these scientists have never been able to prove that
