Father's Day gift ideas

It's almost Father's day, and so it is time to come up with some gift ideas that he will really love. The cool thing about this day is that all you really have to do is get him something that shows that you care. It doesn't even have to be much, as I can attest to the things that I have done for my father on June 21st. Whether it be something simple, or something that might be a tradition, it isn't too hard to think of something nice for your dad.

Typically I will take my father golfing, or out to dinner. I remember last year I took my dad out for lunch at a restaurant, and he ended up winning a 400 dollar grill in a drawing. I think that might be the greatest gift I ever got my dad, and the burgers we had weren't bad either. The great thing about being a guy is that we don't expect much from the people we love, just that we get something that we will enjoy, and something that will show that people remember you.

If you are poor, or don't feel like doing the same old dinner thing every year, simply showing up is something that any dad will appreciate. Maybe even washing his car, or mowing the lawn for him is a good way to share your appreciation for everything that your dad has done for you all these years. Simple things like cigars, books, or just watching the US Open are good ways to spend father's day with your father. It doesn't take a lot to get your dad a good gift.

Tickets to a ball game don't hurt your cause either. Whether it be a Yankees game, or just a local minor-league team, what guy wouldn't want to watch some sports all day? If it is a minor league team, you can get tickets really cheap, and they typically will have prize giveaways, or some promotion for father's day. You get all that, and the chance to spend the day with your father for about twenty bucks a person, or maybe less. I would recommend buying your dad a hot dog though if he asks.

A good car wash, or a simple gift card work too. Like I said, guys aren't picky. If we get something, chances are we are bound to use it eventually. Anything that is free, or helps us live an easier life is a good thing for a guy. If something takes less work at a future date, and you provided the means to make something easier, your father will love it.

Father's day is great in that anything is a good gift. As long as it is something fun, or makes your dad's life easier, you are good. Just make sure you stop by, or at least call your dad if you are out of town. Just make sure you take a few minutes to tell him that you appreciate everything he has done for you.
