With a rich history, battles over centuries, a past of queens and kings, and a present that is still growing and evolving into a modern state, Poland should definitely be on your places to travel to list. It's Central Europe that has a blend of the past, present and future in the one place. If you're planning a trip to Poland there are few places that you should not miss.
Warsaw
The capital city is a must for the simple fact that it is the capital, but also for the latest shopping, trendy bars and restaurants, and the sights, like the Starowka (the Old Town), Lazienki (Royal Gardens), Palac Kultury i Nauki (Palace of Culture & Science), as well as taking a stroll along the Wisla River. If you love history, visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum, National Museum and the War Museum.
Krakow
This is one of the most visited cities in Poland with many tourists, a lot more than in the other cities. Krakow has a gorgeous old town, again known as Starowka, it seems every large city has one of those. Krakow's Starowka is very trendy in that it has a bustling night life and attractions for tourists and lots of night life for the young and not so young party goers. Check out Wawel Castle for some history.
Kazimierz Dolny
The small village is about 150km away from Warsaw and is situated on the Wisla River. It's a quaint village with old architecture, a rich history, lots of bars, cafs and restaurants and a lovely place to spend a sunny Sunday. Avoid the long weekends or public holidays as Kazimierz Dolny does get fairly busy with Warsaw folk paying it a visit.
Wieliczka
A little place outside of Krakow, the village houses a famous salt mine 300m underneath the ground. Inside you can find a restaurant and caf, museum and health spa. It's a popular tourist destination recommended for all.
Gdansk
Situated in north Poland on the Baltic Sea, Gdansk is the city of solidarity. It too, has a lovely old town, many restaurants and bars, and shows in the town square. There are also local markets on the outskirts for you to spend your money on. There's everything from clothes and knick knacks to fruit and vegetables.
Bialowierza National Park
Visit Halinowka and stop by the Bialowierza National Park which houses a bison reserve with over 450 bison residents. Drink Zubrowka, check out the museum and enjoy a stroll through the primeval forest that is one of the oldest in Europe.
Poland has lots to offer the interested tourist, it's a fantastic place to meet with the friendly locals, experience a different culture yet still remain in a comfortable and safe area. Poland is a blend of old and new that is slowly but surely making it's place in the modern world.
