Cross my heart at least I try
Is truth my saving grace?
When love and lust and faith all lie
Who will I then embrace?
I sought to hold a flame for you
was that so ill advised?
all the blame is mine it's true
and rightly I'm despised
Perhaps I'll have a shower now
to wash away my sins
in sex there is no solemn vow
in lust nobody wins
I cradle all the hopeless ones
I cultivate this lie
to fall for every girl that shuns
advances of mine eye
Elusive is this thing called love
to oft found spurious
of what to make of the above
I find I'm curious
and empty is my current claim
and all the rest I fear
there is only myself to blame
with life thus engineered
