Poetry: Lust

Created on: June 14, 2009   Last Updated: June 16, 2009

Cross my heart at least I try

Is truth my saving grace?

When love and lust and faith all lie

Who will I then embrace?

I sought to hold a flame for you

was that so ill advised?

all the blame is mine it's true

and rightly I'm despised

Perhaps I'll have a shower now

to wash away my sins

in sex there is no solemn vow

in lust nobody wins

I cradle all the hopeless ones

I cultivate this lie

to fall for every girl that shuns

advances of mine eye

Elusive is this thing called love

to oft found spurious

of what to make of the above

I find I'm curious

and empty is my current claim

and all the rest I fear

there is only myself to blame

with life thus engineered
