It is difficult to pick just a top ten places to visit in Europe because it is a diverse continent containing many individual and very different countries. However the following are just ten of the best places to visit in Europe.
London has everything museums, art galleries, theatres, and history around every corner. The tower of London was begun in the 11th century. London is a cosmopolitan city with residents from many countries. You could, if you wanted, eat your way around the world, London has plenty of restaurants and eateries, why not take a trip to China town. Covent Garden, once the fruit and vegetable market, is now a pedestrianised shopping precinct, containing shops, arts and craft market in the old apple market. The Covent Garden Opera house is the British home of ballet and opera. Take a trip on the River Thames, some of London's history can only be appreciated from the Thames, perhaps you could sail to Hampton Court Palace.
What many people from other countries do not realize is that, although the United Kingdom is small, the countryside, architecture, people's accents and cultures can change dramatically in a small area. Cornwall is the most south western county of England. It is very different to the rest of England. There are typical chocolate box cottages in quaint villages. There is bleak but wonderful wild countryside, moorland and on the coast rocky secret coves. There is good surfing on the coasts. A word of warning; do not go in August; August is school holiday time in England and Cornwall is full of British holidaymakers. The best times to visit Cornwall are from early May to the 3rd Week in July and September to October. Discover piskies (the Cornish little people) perhaps they will bring you luck or a very happy holiday. You can enjoy proper Cornish pasties, Cornish afternoon tea with clotted cream, fresh fish and seafood so much excellent fresh food. Cornwall has much to offer the visitor from historic fishing villages, to water sports, to the iconic Eden Project and other beautiful gardens.
The Scottish Highlands and Islands have beautiful and dramatic countryside, castles, and history and a culture that is again very different to the rest of the U.K. In the Orkneys you will find one of the oldest Iron Age settlements in the World. The Orkneys has a very different culture to even the rest of Scotland. Norse festivals are very much a part of Orcadian life.
