Methadone: Is it really a proper treatment for heroin addicts

Is Methadone is the only real treatment for heroin addicts? This is an article that should explain if methadone is the proper treatment for heroin addicts. The topic is not 'is methadone a dangerous drug'.

So.....This is the same thing as asking is insulin the only cure for diabetics. What individuals fail to realize when they speak of opiates as treatment for pain, or in reference to Methadone as a treatment for heroin addicts is the premise that the human body naturally makes opiates. These real opiates that your body produce are called endorphins and even this name is a derivative of the word morphine. Morphine and a natural human endorphin is very molecularly similar. Different acting drugs like (WHICH ARE NOT OPIATES!) Cocaine, alcohol(Which is a depressant) , marijuana (Which is a depressant) all impede normal body functions and non of these chemicals are made naturally in the body. Cocaine (Which is a stimulant) enhances dopamine release and alters behavior .These other drugs and chemicals actually impede normal brain chemistries or like cociane actually enhance dopamine release. The human body however genuinely makes its own opiates. So in a sense, opiates can be looked upon as in a sense a supplement and not a drug. The only reason it cannot be an actual supplement is because there are so many types with all different modes of action.

So we can start at what is physical dependence on opiates to give a person a perspective on this topic.

A body responds to everyday wear and tear that you put your body through by fatigue and pain. Natural endorphins in a healthy body ward off fatigue to degrees but do not eliminate it. A healthy person goes for hours for their body is in good sync with nutrition which is needed for life. Energy drinks, and or a good diet enable the body to function at peak efficiency. So when a person takes a pain pill for pain in a sense prior to physical dependence on the drug their bodies respond to the drug in either one or three ways. One it cancels the pain, which is what is suppose to do. It makes you tired, or it gives you euphoria and a feeling of well being and taking away the pain or it does nothing at all. Opiates are the only drug that when given in the correct dose will not impair your mental judgment, motor skills or coordination. Now of course there are exceptions to this. Example; no matter how much heroin a person takes it is going to have a result to the extreme. Opiates can be looked on as fast acting and slow
