Websites which pay international writers for articles

Being from the UK I know how frustrating it is to sign up for a new writing website and start writing for the site only to find out that you will not be paid. There seems to be an enormous list of sites which require you to be resident in the US, or else they will not pay; such sites include the popular Ehow, Gather, and Textbroker. Other sites such as Associated Content only pay upfront payments to US writers while the rest of us have to make do with measly page view payments. Luckily for international writers there are a few sites which will pay you for your articles. In my opinion here are three of the best :-

Helium

Helium is made for international freelance writers. It does not matter where you live all writers are treated the same in this friendly writing community. Helium brings many ways for freelance writers to earn. For all starred writers there are the upfront payments, which depend on the number of writing stars you have. A one starred writer will earn 50 cents per article, whereas a five star writer will earn $2.50 per article. If you write to those titles which have no articles then you have the chance to earn an extra $1 on top of your upfront payment. Every time someone views your articles you earn revenue share. By writing to high paying popular titles you could earn a few dollars daily. The earning does not stop there as you can participate in the Marketplace and write to publisher's requirements. Even if your article is not selected you still have the opportunity to earn an upfront payment. Articles can also be purchased by outside publishers for $5, and the beauty of this is that your article still stays on the Helium website and therefore still earns you revenue every time it is viewed. Writing contests are another way to earn some cash on Helium. All in all Helium is a great way for international freelance writers to earn dollars.

Xomba

Xomba is a site which pays you 50% of your Google AdSense revenue straight into your AdSense account. The site is open to worldwide members provided they have an adsense account. The possibilities of earning money on Xomba are endless. You never know when one of your articles will go viral. I have had several days on Xomba where I have spent 20 minutes writing and earned $10. These articles then go on to make me AdSense revenue on days when I do not write. Xomba also runs writing contests where the prizes are a few hundred dollars.

Constant Content

Constant Content provides several ways for international writers to earn. Firstly you can post your own articles on this site and set your price and rights. You may want to sell your article and give full rights or you may allow several people to download your article. Alternatively you can write to publishers requirements. Daily emails are sent out outlining what publishers are looking for. Constant Content does pay relatively well but it is important to remember that they charge 35%, so if you set an article price at $10 you will only get $7.50 in your PayPal account.

There are many opportunities and writing sites for international writers to make a living from writing. Before writing for a new site read the terms of service and make sure you will be paid for your work. If in doubt stick to the three sites above; I would highly recommend all of them.
