It was Sunday afternoon on December 7, 1941; Benny and Serena Williams had just finished their Sunday dinner of fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, turnip greens with hot buttermilk corn muffins, and sweet potato pie. Serena was an excellent cook, a beautiful black woman, with long silky black hair and a body that will turn any man's eye. Benny is a handsome, muscular build, and intelligent black man who loves Serena with his heart and soul. Benny and Serena met in college; they both graduated with honors from Howard University in Washington, DC.

Benny received his degree in Political Science with plans in attending Law School in January. Serena received her degree in Dentistry. She will start her internship in Dentistry on the following Monday. They both came from educated, upper-middle class families, both of their fathers' were Doctors, and their mothers' were educators; the two of them was a match made in heaven, a lovely couple with a promising futures.

Benny sits in his favorite easy chair in their lavished living room, reading the Sunday newspaper and smoking his pipe. He does this ritual every Sunday afternoon after finishing off one of Serena's hearty meals. Serena had just finished the dishes, she asks, "Benny, Do you want to listen to the news?" Benny said," Yes, afterward we can listen to a little of Lena Horne, she is singing live tonight on Benny Goodman show". Benny loves him some Lena Horne, she is every black man's dream. Serena turns on the big brown radio, sits on the sofa, and takes out her knitting needle. She was knitting a black sweater for her husband it was one of his Christmas present. Benny had earlier made a fire in the fireplace; it was warm and relaxing.

It was approximately 2:26 pm on a Sunday afternoon; outside it had begin to snow in Washington, DC. The CBS news would begin in about four minutes; suddenly, a ticker typing sound begin and a CBS News Anchorman announced," We now interrupted this broadcast for an important news bulletin". Benny stopped reading his newspaper; Serena move closer to turn the volume of the radio up to hear." The Japanese have just bombed Pearl Harbor; the events happen at dawn about 8am Hawaiian time. A Japanese squadron launched a sneaked air attack on our Pacific fleets and our air bases. There are conflicting reports stating that some of our Navy Fleets have been destroyed by enemy bombing." The shocking news of the attack on the United States by the Japanese outraged everybody.
