Your liver like your heart is one vital organ that is necessary for survival and you can't live without it. It is not only the largest gland in your body, but also the largest organ with over 500 functions. With your liver being a necessity it's important to safeguard it and take care of it the best you can. It's been known for years that heavy alcohol intake can damage your liver and cause cirrhosis of the liver, thus eventually leading to death. What isn't so well known is the effects that fast food has on your liver. A regular diet of fast food can have detromental effects on your liver!
Yes, fast food effects your liver! This in return can cause a whole host of medical problems. With an organ that provides so many functions as the liver does it is hard to cover them all and the medical conditions that can arise. However, people should take notice to the most dangerous effects fast food can have on the liver before they go sinking their teeth into the next super sized fast food meal. Be aware of the effects of fast food and altering your diet, may just save your life. Your liver like your heart is one of the most essential organs in your body. You can't live without your heart because it supplies blood to the rest of your body. The same goes for your liver. You can't live without it. However, your liver though not anymore important than your heart, it controls and carries out many more functions than the heart. Your liver is responsible for filtering and regulating what goes into your bloodstream ans what comes out, such as the toxins from medications and food. These toxins don't have to be just medication type. They can be sodium, sugars, and much more.
Metabolism
The liver plays a major role in the body's ability to metabolize. A variety of biochemical reactions that are performed and regulated by the liver helps your body to metabolize. The high carbohydrate levels in fast food rise blood sugar levels making the liver produce more insulin. This in return plays a role in weight gain. To a person who is obese with heart problems, the intake of fast foods, may have adverse effects on the liver's ability to regulate the metabolism. This in return can cause greater weight gain, thus putting more of a strain on the heart. In addition, it can cause one to become diabetic.
Hepatic Steatosis
Fast foods are known for their higher than normal calories. Studies show that binging on fast foods, even for short periods, cause a condition known as hepatic steatosis. .
