Poetry: A love turned cold

by Author Name Withheld 135

Created on: June 14, 2009

Memories cascade into
A fountain of images
in the twilight hour.
And I lie in bed and wonder
Of the 'what ifs' and 'what nots',
The 'maybes', 'buts' and 'oh if onlys'.

But it's over now and he has gone,
The moment's passed and I'm alone.

And acceptance lingers
In the distance somewhere,
Slightly beyond my grasp,
Yet well within my sight,
I'll keep my head and chin up
And I know I'll be alright.

But the night is long and lonely,
And the memories turned sour,
And optimism cannot breathe
Throughout the twilight hour.
