There's more to beautiful Virginia Beach than sand, surf, and American history there's one of the most fantastic Farmer's Markets on the east coast. Located at the corner of Dam Neck and Princess Anne Roads, the Virginia Beach Farmer's Market is a year-round open air market with fresh local produce and a great assortment of stores:
Chapman's Flowers sells all sorts of flowers from bedding plants to hanging baskets and seasonal greenery. They also have seashells from all over the world, wind chimes, jams, jellies, and decorative flags. (open year round)
The Country Butcher & Deli Shop specializes in fresh prime beef, pork, chicken, fresh turkeys and Virginia ham. It's also a great place to buy a delicious deli sandwich or special order party platters for special occasions. (open year round)
Creekmore's Place has a cornucopia of fresh fruits and vegetables. They also sell local honey, jams, relish, peanuts, chestnuts, walnuts, and pecans. And when they're in season, this is the place to buy sweet potatoes and collards. (open April-December)
Holland Produce also offers seasonal fresh-picked fruits and vegetables. From June-October, they accept WIC farmers' market program coupons. (open April-December)
S&H Produce is yet another shop with wonderful seasonal fresh-picked fruit and vegetables. They also participate in the WIC farmer's market program. (open April December)
Princess Anne County Grill. If you can't wait to get home to prepare your fresh purchases, this is the place to enjoy a meal. Serving home-made country cooking with a twist, Princess Anne's has delicious steaks, fresh seafood, hot sandwiches, homemade pies and cakes, and daily blue plate specials. (open year round)
Skipper Farms is one of the larger produce places if you can't find it here, you probably won't find it. They have fresh strawberries, sweet corn, melons, squash, cantaloupes, peaches, tomatoes, beans, peppers, pumpkins, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and just about anything that is grown in Virginia. They also have Virginia peanuts, raw green, roasted, or boiled. They sell jams, jellies, pickles, pickled vegetables, flowers, fall ornamentals, Christmas trees, wreaths, and pine roping. Seasons Best Bakery your nose will guide you here as the aroma of fresh baked goods wafts through the aisles. They also sell gourmet old-fashioned candies, homemade pies and sweets. (open year round)
The Nesting Box is for the birds handcrafted birdhouses, birdfeeders, planters, and birdseed for you wild bird friends. (open year round)
Virginia Garden Organic Grocery has a huge selection of healthy foods, high-quality supplements, and seasonal organic produce. Enjoy their dark leafy greens, lettuces, root vegetables, apples, blueberries, peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, watermelon, bananas, avocados, oranges, lemons, etc. They are Hampton Roads' only retailer of Polyface Farms grass fed beef and pork and they carry organic chickens from Pennsylvania Amish farms. (open year round but closed Sundays)
Yoder Dairies carries premium bottled milk, chocolate, strawberry, buttermilk, dipped ice cream, sundaes, shakes, eggs, and baked goods. YUM! (open year round)
There are even more shops in the Vendor's Lane in the Market's side lot. Uncle Chuck's Seafood carries wonderful fresh seafood; The Garden Box has an array of gardening materials and specialty gifts; and Keep it Poppin' sells kettle popped corn in a variety of flavors. There's a delicious fudge stand here, too.
The Farmers Market at 3640 Dam Neck Rd. (757-385-4395) is a fun outing and a healthy one, too. There is plenty of parking and the market is partially covered so you can enjoy it year round.
