Poetry: Poets

by T.C Leonard

 "The Cons of Writing Prose"

A would-be poet laureate
Sought a rhyme for 'dysentery'
He struggled for three hours
With his rhyming dictionary
He moved to the next couplet
And sought a match for 'pagan'
He scratched his head, then he took
A dip of Copenhagen
"This rhyming stuff," he thought aloud,
"Isn't really what I chose!"
Then he thought about the many cons
That come with writing prose
See, with a grasp of meter
And good rhymes-if you don't blow it
Anyone with pen and pad
Can be a budding poet
