eat?
I'm not going to eat it. I need it for some research. It has to stay cold for at least four hours. And I need some of the liquid too.
Liquid too? The clerk nodded, looking around for something. I have no jar for liquid. I may put in plastic bag?
I suppose if we double bag Eric looked up at her and begin to explain with his hands. Put one bag in another bag and put the mushroom and liquid in center bag?
Yes. Yes. The clerk disappeared into the walk-in once more. She reappeared with two zipper bags, one inside the other as Eric had asked.
That's great. That will work. Eric placed the mushroom is his insulated lunch bag. I spoke to a man earlier who said you have a cold pack for the mushroom if I need it?
The woman nodded. Yes, Yes. For twenty dollars extra.
Twenty dollars?
Am sorry. He did not tell you. Twenty dollars is price.
Eric had no choice. Fine. Just get it for me please. I have to have it.
Again she disappeared into the walking, returning with the cold pack. I can get you anything else?
The walls seemed if they had moved in a bit and the store suddenly felt like it was crowded with people, but there was no one around. No that will be all. He pulled the cash from his pocket, hading it to the clerk somewhat roughly. Oops, sorry.
You see us again. Thank you.
Eric grabbed his change and the insulated bag. He felt like he couldn't get to the door fast enough, almost running as he went. He bolted out of the store, stopping on the sidewalk about six steps away, panting. He didn't know if the panic came from breathing the vapors coming off the herbs and oils, or if it were something else, but that was one place he definitely wouldn't be coming back to.
