Absolute Terror from Outer Space.
Mutate/ host
I woke with a start.
I lay on my back, naked in my bed.
I had thrown the covers off me in my sleep.
Dim light seeped through the sheer curtains.
I looked down and saw what seemed like a little animal sitting upright on my stomach.
It sat just below my navel, or was it standing up?
Bright little eyes gleamed.
It looked as if it was only about four inches long, but instinctively I knew it was very dangerous.
Sweat broke out on my face, dripping off my nose into the valley between my breasts and flowed down towards the little monster.
I could not move my eyes away from those laser-like eyes.
I could not breathe.
I shivered as my adrenal glands kicked in and flooded my twenty three year old body with adrenalin.
I panicked as my shivering threatened to topple the thing on my stomach.
It did not move, just swayed as my body moved.
I was frozen in time.
Suddenly, I was conscious of my sweat pooling in the down-like hairs on my chest; now accelerating towards the thing as my shivering had created little waves that added to gravity pulling my sweat downwards.
Should I scream?
Cynthia my roommate could rush in and save me.
Save me from what?
From it.
What is it?
It was silhouetted against the sheer curtains, but as my eyes adjusted to the dim light I was able to make out the shape of its head.
It looked like a miniature velociraptor.
WHAT?
You've got to be kidding?
It winked at me, then bent forward and laid its menacing head on my stomach letting my sweat wash over its narrow, pointed head.
It opened its long, dangerous mouth and drank in my sweat.
It shook itself, scattering little drops of sweat over my stomach, and into my navel, where it pooled and cooled slowly.
The moisture from my brow increased, and itched so bad as it ran down over my nose and breasts.
But, I dare not move.
I dare not move a muscle.
How can I stop the rivers of sweat?
I stopped shivering as my body adjusted itself to the influx of the hormones; it was nature's way to help me flee or fight. Right!
But I was incapable of making a decision, any decision.
I lay there mesmerized by this thing on my stomach.
It's bright eyes burned into mine as it slowly became erect again.
Some sweat swirled past the monster and became trapped in my pubic hairs.
What the hell is going on!
Is this a nightmare?
If so, I can wake up.
Can't I?
Am I really dreaming this, this horrendous situation I find myself in?
I move my hand to pinch myself, but the thing vibrates with menace and I freeze again.
A raptor?
