True love is the lone black balloon among a bunch of colorful ones; it may not be for everyone, but it will definitely stand out. The thing is, we've seen that black balloon at least once in our lives and we choose to ignore it.
We're constantly defining what true love really is. Without batting an eyelash, some might even claim that true love is the opposite of false love.
This definition is so devoid of passion, it's almost antiseptic in a way. Logically speaking, does "false" love even exist? Can it be even considered love when one is not sincere about what he's feeling? False love is certainly not hate seeing that there's still love involved, no matter how superficial it is. Apparently, everything has a false side to it, so thinking of true love simply as the opposite of false love, can be a valid definition.
True love is never selfish. It's not a love that requires your undivided attention, it's not a gem you behold and put on a glass cabinet.
Conceited people can never find true love, unless they're willing to look away from their reflections. True love does not exist solely for your own satisfaction. Remember that the one thing that separates true love from other kinds of love is that it entails the act of compromising every once in a while. True love is a mutual understanding. It's one of those gifts that keeps on giving long after it's received.
Is true love supposed to be perfect? Yes, it can be, as long as it is translated in actions. The things that come out from our mouths aren't exactly enough to say that what we have is true love.
As the song goes: "It's more than words." When all we do is say things then it's nothing but a quoted paragraph from a romance novel. It simply can't be that way. Now, don't think that true love is materialistic. It's more than just the flowers and the jewelry, the fine dinner in a restaurant or that night in a hotel bedroom. Yes, it's more than that. It's about things that really matters. It's the time you held her hand while you were waiting for the bus. It's that one morning you made breakfast when he was bedridden. It's that rainy November night, when you shared one umbrella.
True love is more than we can ever imagine. Trying to define it even further may only result into confusion.
It's unique for each one of us. We each have our own definitions and we choose to believe in them. Sure, there won't be rainbows all the time, but we take that one tiny ray of light and we make the best out of it. Our lives branch out into different paths and those paths may cross somewhere along the way. True love finds us when we finally choose the person who we'll share our own paths with.
Don't ever let that lone black balloon fly away. True love, like everything else, might not come again.
